How do I Log-in once I am subscribed to a course?
Logging in to the learning portal is simple.
Download this simple How to Log-in guide if your are having difficulties.

Please remember that:

  • You can only Log-In with the e-mail address (User Name) that you subscribed to a course with. This means if you attempt to log in with an alternative e-mail address i.e. a home e-mail address rather than the work e-mail address supplied, you will not be able to log in and a user error message will be generated.
  • Passwords are case sensitive so subscribers should be aware they can only log in with the passwords in the format they are generated.

You will need to ensure that your computer has Java-Script enabled as one of your Security Settings in order to view the course content.  If you attempt to log in and can still not see the course that you are subscribed to it may be that the security settings on your computer will need to be changed.  You should contact your network administrator to make these changes.

Which web-browser should I use to view the course content?
The learning portal works with all the major web-browsers i.e Google Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer.

Can I skip activities and sections of a course?
No, do not skip sections of a course.  Every section and activity is designed to maximise your understanding of a particular subject and topic.  Missing or skipping a section may mean that you will not have required the necessary breadth of learning to complete assessments, tests or tasks on your chosen course.

Do I have to work through each module in order?
Yes, we recommend that you work through each module and activity in the order that they are written and presented.  If there is an area that you are finding particularly difficult to understand, you can always make a note of it and return to it later.

What happens when I open a Document during a module?
All Documents will open in a new tab in your web browser.  Your learning portal window will remain open in your web browser, so you can easily return to the last exercise you completed before this additional material was introduced.

What happens when I open a Link during a module?
Links to external websites opened during your course will always open in a tab in your web browser. Your learning portal window will remain open so you can easily return to the last exercise you completed before this extra material was introduced.

How can I remember where I am on a course if I have to interrupt my studies mid- way through a module?
The easiest way to remember where you are is to use the 'Bookmarks' function in your web browsers menu bar. That way you will have an automated record of the module number and activity you have reached.

I am trying to watch a video and it won't play/I can't hear the sound?
Check that you have the right Software installed.

5. Broadband connection with 500+ Kbps

Check that you have your speakers turned on.
Check that you have the Volume control on your computer turned up.

On occasion we may refer you to a video clip accessed via a link to an external World Wide Web page.  In this instance the new page will open in a new tab in your web browser.

How do I navigate through the course and each module?
Please ensure that you complete the first module of your course ‘Using the Learning Portal.'  This will guide you through how to navigate through course material and give you insight into the types of activities and information you will encounter.

How do I report a problem I have found on my course/this site?
Use the 'Broken Page?'  button located at the bottom of every page.

What type of equipment do I need to take an online course?
All you need is a multimedia enabled computer and an Internet connection. Multimedia-rich courses may require a more powerful computer to display movies and run interactive simulations. Furthermore, a broadband connection is recommended, as the multimedia portions of the site may be prohibitively slow over a dial-up connection.
